Eye on the Street: The New Boxster Spyder

So with everyone’s eyes on the new Panamera, and rightfully so, another recent addition to the Porsche line up has managed to slip under almost everyone’s radar. Think James Dean 2010 and you’re getting closer. For a lower-than-expected $61,200 base MSRP, the Spyder makes more sense than its new four door cousin, and also won’t completely break your bank if you’ve been taking care of your money. Next time you pull up alongside one of these babies, you’ll know exactly what it is, but not many others will.

LA’s Best Boutiques Hotels

When one thinks of hotels in Los Angeles, they no doubt imagine the gorgeous Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons and Sunset’s green and pink historic Beverly Hills Hotel. While everyone should call each of these greats home at least once, they are certainly not going to keep your pocketbook full, and often have a bit of a nose-in-the-air attitude. When we suggest places for friends to stay or splurge on a room for the night instead of driving home, we like to check into some of LA’s best smaller hotels, where service is topnotch and prices aren’t quite as shocking. Here are five of our favorites.

Make Your Vacation Work For You

How true does this scenario sound to you: You’ve booked your flights, paid for your hotel, spend the fourteen hours on a cramped tin can, and finally landed in your destination city, only to find out five days later that you should have stayed in another place, gone to different bars and maybe even should have chosen different partners for the trip. It happens to the best of us, but follow the tips below, and you’ll be loving every part of the trip and wishing you never had to go home.

Fine and Dandy: Not Your Grandfather’s shop

The aspect of F&D that especially caught FreddieBlack’s attention was the inspiration behind this online distributor. Charles Henry, the creator of Fine and Dandy, started the online shop out of homage to his grandfather, who Henry states, “really made an effort each day in creating a signature look that suited him. And there was just something about the way he carried himself.”

The Coming of Spring and Summer

I know we all are committed to our work and times are tough for most Americans. However, that is no excuse not to conquer these simple things and allow them to give you a sense of accomplishment. So get ready and plan ahead because Spring and Summer are arriving soon and you want to take advantage of these days while you can.

The Wonders Down Under – Melbourne

Australia in general is such a beautiful country filled with many hidden treasures and beautiful landmarks. It is a country of rugged coastlines, impressive skylines and most importantly; warm sociable people. Australians are laid back, fun loving and always welcoming to foreigners. Melbourne, my home city, is so full of opportunities and possibilities and features rare beauty found only here. By living here, the excitement never stops and as I grow up learning more about our culture and way of living, I realise that there is nowhere else I’d rather be.

From the beginning of time, sporting events have brought people from all walks of life together for entertainment. Unfortunately not all of us have the physical ability and mental toughness to reach this level of competition. So we are left watching from the stands and cheering for those great ones. These five events are the spectacles that any sports fan would hope to and will try to attend at some point in their lives.

Tipping: What, Where, and When

We understand that the concept is to compensate people for their level of service, what we do not understand, though, is why a valet attendant is supposed to be tipped, and a pharmacy technician is not.

Freddie’s Fast Fixes: A Hole in the Wall Burger Joint

Once inside, there may not be too much to look at, but what there is, is spotless. These people take their burgers seriously, and Bill, who is an experienced executive chef, has taken his love of fine food and ingredients and transferred them to a burger. Whether you get a veggie, turkey, or beef burger, you will still spend less than at The Counter and a fraction of what you will at 25 degrees at the Roosevelt hotel, for a better burger. We like the pretzel bun with the Cranberry mayo and sautéed onion.
