Jeans are like nipples; everyone’s got a pair. The only problem is that in today’s high-fashion world, finding a good pair jeans is harder than finding a parking spot in Manhattan. For this reason, we choose to salute an original. Levi Strauss changed the world when he pieced together a few yards of denim to create the first pair of “blue jeans” in the 1870’s. Throughout the time since, there have been literally thousands of jean companies that have come and gone with the tides, but Levi has staying power …

Freddie’s Five For Fall and Winter

Fall is the time of year when one’s ability to dress with true style either sinks or swims. It is a time for layers, accessories, and serious footwear. Three Cheers For: Tie Or Die

We were recently sent an email by a young man that we thought deserved merit for its originality and adherence to the ideas of Freddie. What these two gentlemen did was a great push forward for each of their personal style, while simultaneously and subliminally encouraging those around them to do the same. These two guys challenged each other to each wear a different, unique tie to work everyday for the month of October, and invited people to vote for the winner through a website they set up, the results being both amusing and refreshingly original.

The Real Peacoat

While it may seem that peacoats have been popular in civilian use since…forever, there’s good reason. Take a look back at some of the world’s bad-ass icons like Dean, Sinatra, and McQueen, and they all have at least one great moment with the navy legend. Like many of fashion’s all stars, the peacoat is simple and plain, but timeless. So take a look at any decent army-navy store, find a real one, and wear it with respect and admiration, not for its great look and warmth, but more so for the men who make it a necessity.

Glasses Never Looked This Shwood

Fuck Cartier and Chrome Hearts, charging $500 and up for wooden framed sunglasses. The look has never fully caught on, in part because the awkward mixture of metal and wood that has never seemed to look all that great, but primarily because of the ridiculous up charge companies like Chrome Hearts insist on applying to their wooden framed glasses. Well fear no more my environment-loving friends, now instead of writing on the trees we chop down, you can wrap those suckers around your face. FreddieBlack’s got the Shwoods, baby.

Some of these distributors that you may be fans of now are H&M, Zara, and Urban Outfitters. Imagine if you could magically put all these companies together and ship them across the pond. If you could somehow do this, you may have something like Topman on your hands.

Fine and Dandy: Not Your Grandfather’s shop

The aspect of F&D that especially caught FreddieBlack’s attention was the inspiration behind this online distributor. Charles Henry, the creator of Fine and Dandy, started the online shop out of homage to his grandfather, who Henry states, “really made an effort each day in creating a signature look that suited him. And there was just something about the way he carried himself.”
